The Walter Reed Program in Tanzania (WRP-T) is a collaborative effort supporting pepfar mobikidsis funded by HIV prevention and treatment activities in the Southern Highlands and within the Tanzanian people’S Army (JWTZ).
HJFMRI is a local non-profit that has supported these efforts since 2004 for Walter Reed
Military research institute (WRAIR).
HJFMRI activities are carried out in conjunction with Ministry of Health, Social Development, Gender, Elderly and children; and Office of the President Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG), via Regional teams and Health Management Councils.
HJFMRI-T provides care and treatment to people affected by HIV / AIDS and has been actively participate in the HIV and AIDS programme, providing resources, staff, and services to Regions Of The Southern Highlands.
The program has expanded from supporting the Mbeya Region Hospital referral for being a hub for antiretroviral treatment in the area for the community support through decentralized services, with the overall objective of carrying out research, HIV clinic, prevention, care, and medical care.
HJFMRI-T currently operates in four
regions in the Southern Highlands zone, namely Mbeya, Rukwa, Katavi, Songwe, and Ruvuma
provincial voluntary male circumcision treatment (VMMC) intervention.
