ABOUT THE BANK
The United Republic of Tanzania established the Bank of Tanzania under the 1965 Act, and began operating on 14 June 1966 and now operates under the Bank of Tanzania Act of 2006.
The history of monetary arrangements in Tanzania before the establishment of the Central Bank of Tanzania is divided into two parts, namely, the period before the establishment of the East African currency board (eacb) in December 1919 and the period until the opening of the doors of the Central Bank of Tanzania in June 1966.
Funding programs in Tanzania before l919 were different from those in Zanzibar. This is because the first was under German rule, while the second had its own government.
