Assistant librarian, job posting sites

Purpose of Job

Assisting librarian in provision of Library.

Main Functions

• Assisting in processing library information materials
• Conducting information searching and retrieval for library clients
• Maintenance of library catalogue
• Circulation duties of the library
• Library reference services
• Working closely with librarian to search, identity and select Materials in all formats
• Assisting in Audiovisual and serial services of library.

Specific Responsibilities

• Assisting library events such as library weeks
• Assist library training band user education program
• Conduct various library surveys
• General ergonomics and shelving of library items
• Assist the preparation of current awareness services
• Perform any other duties as required

QUALIFICATION

• Knowledge of standard library organization system
• Literacy in modern computer application
• Good communication skills
• Excellent personal skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Knowledge in African human rights
• Knowledge of international organization and their factions
• Advance certificate of secondary education and diploma in library and  information studies or information science or related discipline or an equivalent
• Higher qualification will be added advantage
• Minimum 5years of professional experience in similar position
