MUHAS began since 1963 as Dar es salaam school of medicine and leiter transformed into the faculty of medicine of the university of Dar es salaam in 1968
This faculty was transferred to Muhimbili Hospital to build the Muhimbili Health Center (MMC) in 1977 and leiter it was approved through the legislation of parliament act No 9 of 1991 from University ownership to independent institution known as Muhimbili instute of Health and Allied science.
Over the years MUCHS made great success in terms of student enrollment increases and the development of several new academic programs. Parliamentary Law And. 9 of the 1991 introduced lot was abolished in 2005 through the law of universities and. 7 of 2005. Thereafter, MUHAS was established in 2007 through Article 1 of the incorporation agreement in accordance with the Universities Act No. 7 of 2005.
