Kilombero Sugar Company Limited (KSCL) founded in Tanzania is a subsidiary of Illovo Sugar group of Africa’s leading and largest sugar producer.
Illovos activities in Tanzania include two agricultural areas namely Msolwa and Ruembe, two sugar factories known as K1 and K2, and one ethanol plant also known as K3. Illovo owns 55 percent of KSCL’s capital with 20 percent held by ED and F Man, a London-based product company and 25 percent by the Tanzanian government.
KSCL is located in the Morogoro Region in the central southern part of the country and is the largest integrated sugar asset covering 23,000 hectares with a total investment of 240 billion shillings to date. Two agricultural farms located near Sugar Mills are located on either side of the Great Ruaha River and are connected by a lower bridge.
These two industries grind 1.2 million tons of sugar cane annually, producing more than 130,000 tons of brown sugar under the popular name ‘Sugar Master’ for local and regional markets.
